Moving from Wordpress to Gatsby

October 17, 2020

Last week I got an email from https://hostgator.com saying that my shared hosting plan was using too much CPU and they decided to suspend it. I haven’t really had to worry about hosting for the last 10+ years as I’ve been using hostgator and wordpress to manage my different blogs. However this incident made me reconsider my choice of using 10+ year old technology.

I’ve been curious about JAMstack for a while and decided to port my blog using Gatsby. I’m using Linode as my virtual private server host. And I’m using markdown to write the posts stored in a Github repository and deploying using Docker, Github Actions and Webhooks. I’ll write more about the deployment setup in the next post.
